I will be attending the MLP Fair as a vendor this year, and since I can’t bring my usual shop stuff I need to crank out some art! Ponies galore!

Rework of this old doodle

Santa’s reindeer again, this time in poster format and with bonus Rudolph.

And all 8 reindeer are done! Just in time for Christmas! @o@;;; Enjoy my little trip into dorkhood, and check the end of the post for some bonus tidbits.

1. Blitzen

Blitzen is tough as nails and doesn’t let anybody push her around. Her stubborn attitude, problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly to change has placed her as the second in command despite her younger age. She sometimes butts heads with Donner (literally) but has a deep respect and adoration for him.

2. Donner

Donner is the eldest of the bunch and the leader, placed at the front of the pack. He’s very wise, but very stern and doesn’t take kindly to any horsing around. He can be rather grumpy and hard to approach, but he cares deeply about all members of his herd.

3. Cupid

A gentle soul and a rather big flirt, Cupid is the second oldest. He enjoys fraternizing with females, but he is always a gentleman about it. He also prefers to go along with the flow of things instead of arguing. His mate is Vixen, but he’s paired with Comet so he focuses on working instead of flirting.

4. Comet:

Comet is the reckless youth, the headstrong hotshot. He’s very skilled, but shows poor judgement from his lack of experience, so he is always getting into trouble. He is the fastest of the group and shows little humility, often bragging or showing off, but he has a good heart.

5. Vixen:

Vixen is the eldest female. She is very calm and intelligent, acting the part of a mother most of the time and looking after the youngest of the herd. She speaks in a soft voice, but when she does everybody listens. She is mated with Cupid.

6. Prancer:

The youngest male, Prancer is rather shy and timid, but so graceful that he is poetry in motion. He generally keeps his head down and works as hard as he can, but once free of the harness he gives in to prancing.

7. Dancer:

The youngest female (and youngest overall), Dancer is sweet, excitable and full of boundless energy. She is very nimble, albeit a little weak. She can be easily distracted and prone to frolic, so she is placed next to Dasher in the hopes he can help even her out.

8. Dasher:

Dasher is an all-around nice guy that gets along with everybody. He’s quick on his feet and reliable, but never really does more than asked. His lack of ambition places him at the rear of the pack where steady and dependable fits well.

Bonus Tidbits: All of Santa’s reindeer should technically be females. Male reindeer lose their antlers at the start of winter, while females keep theirs until spring, so it’s unlikely that during Christmas his team would be male.

Donner and Blitzen originally started out as Dunder and Blixem. Not very appealing for Donner, is it? I don’t think he’d take kindly to the constant Dunder-head jokes he’d be subjected to.

Since I’m going to do this I might as well be a full on dork about it and describe the personalities that I envision for them. More coming soon!

I had this idea to do all 8 of Santa’s reindeer, but time constraints put the kabosh on that. Well, here’s Dasher. Maybe I can get to a few more of them before Christmas.
